Tatami pricing

As each order is unique we will provide an accurate quote for each individual order with the unit cost of the tatami being based on the following factors.


  • The number of mats

    The number of mats ordered will make a big difference to the unit cost per mat as many of the costs of arranging shipping and importation are fixed.

  • The type of mat ordered

    The price per mat before shipping ranges from £104 to £338 depending on the type of mat surface, type of border and size.

  • The proximity to London

    Our shipping and transport is usually handled through a London shipping company and the freight charges within the UK for the mats are determined by the size of the order and also the distance from London.
    For clients living either in Europe or a substantial distance from London we would provide a separate quote based on shipping to a different port.

We have set out below the prices for various types of tatami mat based on 4 1/2, 6, 8 and 10 mats being ordered.

All prices are subject to fluctuations in the yen exchange rate and the current freight charges and we reserve the right to adjust them accordingly. **Last updated on 13/01/11.



VAT (20%) AND CUSTOM DUTY (3.5%) WILL BE ADDED TO THE ESTIMATED PRICES BELOW. THE DELIVERY FEE WILL BE DEPEND ON THE DISTANCE FROM LONDON.

Ordering Tatami mats

The process of ordering mats is as follows:


  1. Measure the space

    Measure the space to be used for tatami flooring and factor in a space to remove shoes either in or outside the room. As the mats are between 55-65mm thick you will need to make sure that they will fit under doors. In some cases the door can be easily trimmed at the bottom to allow space for the door to pass over the mats.


  2. Send us the measurements

    Send the measurements of the space you would like to fill using tatami and we will then suggest a size of mat that will suit the size to be covered.


  3. Choose the style and border

    Choose the style of mat you like (You can order a sample swatch to feel the textures first hand) and the border style.


  4. Email us for the quote

    Email this information to info@tatamiuk.co.uk and we will provide an accurate quote that will be calculated on the type and quantity of mats being imported and the address for delivery.


  5. Delivery and fitting

    If you are fitting the mats yourself then they will be delivered direct to you or alternatively we can deliver them ourselves and arrange on site fitting.
    The time from order to delivery is approximately 6 weeks.
